"Allah — there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep…"
The greatest ayah in the Book. Everything you fear is asleep, forgetful or weak — except Him. Recite it after every salah and before sleep, and Allah places a guardian over you all night.
Reach for this: Before sleep · after every prayer · when the house feels unsafe
"Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear." (2:286)
Not "what it cannot bear" — what it CAN. The test you are holding right now was measured against your exact strength before it reached you. You are stronger than the load, by His design.
Reach for this: When the pressure feels unbearable
"For indeed, with hardship comes ease. Indeed, with hardship comes ease." (94:5-6)
Allah said it twice — scholars note the one hardship can never defeat two eases. The ease is not after the hardship only; it travels WITH it. Look again — it is already in the room.
Reach for this: In any difficulty · exam season · money stress
"So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me." (2:152)
The King of kings offers a deal: you mention Him in the quiet of your heart, He mentions you in the assembly of the angels. Your name, spoken above the sky.
Reach for this: Morning dhikr · when you feel unseen
"Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured." (13:28)
Not "may find" — ARE assured. The heart was manufactured by Allah and only runs smoothly on His remembrance. Everything else is a counterfeit calm with a subscription fee.
Reach for this: Anxiety · overthinking · restless nights
"And whoever fears Allah — He will make for him a way out, and provide for him from where he does not expect." (65:2-3)
Taqwa is not only piety — it is an exit strategy. The door out of your problem is often hidden behind the obedience you are being asked to do today.
Reach for this: Feeling trapped · rizq worries · hard decisions
"Call upon Me; I will respond to you." (40:60)
No appointment needed, no secretary, no fee, no closed hours. The Only One who says "ask and I answer" in the same breath — and He is the one who made you want to ask.
Reach for this: Always · especially when you have nobody to tell
"Do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins." (39:53)
ALL of them. The ayah does not end with a condition — it ends with His names: the Forgiving, the Merciful. No past is bigger than this door.
Reach for this: After a fall · guilt · starting over
"So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are believers." (3:139)
Said right after Uhud — after the defeat, the wound, the loss. Allah does not wait for victory to call you high; your faith already ranks you above the pain.
Reach for this: After a loss · bad results · heartbreak
"My Lord, increase me in knowledge." (20:114)
Allah taught His Messenger ﷺ to ask for increase in one thing only — not wealth, not status, not even health. Knowledge. Say it before every book, every class, every new skill.
Reach for this: Studying · learning anything new
"There is no god but You, glory be to You — I was of the wrongdoers." (21:87)
Said inside a whale, inside a sea, inside a night. And Allah heard him through all three layers. Whatever darkness you are inside, this du'a has already proven it can escape one deeper.
Reach for this: Trapped · depressed · in the dark
"…whoever saves one life, it is as if he had saved mankind entirely." (5:32)
One kindness to one person counts as saving a world. Visit the sick, feed the hungry, stop the harm — you are not doing "a small thing"; you are doing an entire humanity's worth.
Reach for this: When helping feels too small to matter
"Indeed, the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous." (49:13)
Not tribe, not surname, not skin, not bank balance. Allah made the family of Adam one family, and moved the only ranking that matters to the heart.
Reach for this: When people judge by looks or tribe
"And do not turn your cheek in arrogance toward people, nor walk through the earth exultantly." (31:18)
Luqman's advice to his son — the first manners lesson in the Qur'an: face people warmly, walk humbly. Character is taught at home, one cheek and one step at a time.
Reach for this: Raising kids · checking your own manners
"Your Lord has decreed… that you worship none but Him, and be good to your parents." (17:23)
Allah tied their rights to His own in one sentence. The tone check comes next: not even "uff" to them. Paradise is being raised at home — right under their feet.
Reach for this: Every single day · especially when tired of them
"No disaster strikes the earth or yourselves except that it is in a Register before We bring it into being… so that you not grieve over what has eluded you." (57:22-23)
The missed flight, the failed exam, the closed door — already written before creation. Grief over "what if" loses its poison when you know nothing real was ever missed.
Reach for this: Regret · loss · missed opportunities
"And when My servants ask you concerning Me — indeed I am near. I respond to the call of the caller when he calls upon Me." (2:186)
In the middle of the fasting ayahs, Allah slips in this: I am NEAR. No middle-man, no distance. The du'a of a fasting family at iftar lands before the first bite.
Reach for this: At iftar · in sujood · anytime
"And the Hereafter is better for you than the present. And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied." (93:4-5)
Sent to the Prophet ﷺ when the wahy paused and the mockers said "his Lord has forsaken him." Allah answered for all of us: the pause is not absence, and the best is still ahead.
Reach for this: When Allah feels silent
Reflections are short family tafseer — for deeper study, always return to the classical scholars.
